Hill walkers and climbers visiting Lochaber are advised that access to Beinn a Bheither, by South Ballachulish, will be affected by a diversion as Forestry and Land Scotland carries out some tree felling operations.

The diversion – and bankspersons to advise walkers – will be in place from the beginning of July for a period of six weeks.

The felling work is to help prepare the site for the development of a micro-hydro plant at Gleann a Caolais.

David John Robertson, FLS’ Area Visitor Services Manager, said;

“This is a popular ridge with two Munros and the core path network so we were keen to not prevent people from accessing the hills.

“However, tree felling operations can be dangerous so as well as putting a diversion in place we’ll have bankspersons on site to keep walkers right and help keep them safe - so it's important that everyone listen to them and follow their instructions.

“We hope to have completed the felling by mid-August but further disruption as the facility is constructed is likely to continue into October.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this might cause.”

Public access through the site will begin at the climbers car park.

Information signage and physical barriers will be in position from June 7th to allow some easing in time for site preparation.

Hillwalkers and climbers make frequent use of the forest roads networks to access Sgòrr Dhearg and Sgòr Dhònuil.
