Walking in Queen Elizabeth Forest Park
Walking in Queen Elizabeth Forest Park
Whether you’re looking for a gentle stroll through peaceful woods or a stiff climb to a thrilling summit, you’re spoilt for choice at Queen Elizabeth Forest Park.
Fun for the family
There are family-friendly trails from The Lodge Forest Visitor Centre, including a magical meander to a waterfall and wildlife hide. Follow the Three Lochs Forest Drive to lovely Loch Drunkie for easy and scenic routes beside the loch. There are also gentle trails, suitable for wheelchairs and buggies, beside Loch Katrine and on the peaceful wooded shore of Rowardennan.
In search of legends and icons
There’s a great selection of more strenuous trails that take in the most celebrated parts of the park. Enjoy magnificent views over Loch Lomond from Sallochy and Balmaha. Climb high above Loch Katrine on Primrose Hill. Or get a taste of the Trossachs on the Craigmore Viewpoint Trail from the Lodge.
Head for the hills
Experienced walkers can aim for the spectacular summits of Ben A’an, Ben Venue, Ben Ledi and Ben Lomond. These are all rewarding but strenuous unmarked routes, so you’ll need to be properly equipped.
Long distance trails
The Forest Park is also criss-crossed by celebrated long distance routes, including the West Highland Way, the Rob Roy Way and The Great Trossachs Path. Sample a short stretch of these classic routes or take on the challenge of a full trail over several days.
