Did you know that Scotland is home to ten of the 17 bat species living and breeding in the UK? …
You can stroll through peaceful oak, willow and birch woods that cloak the secluded gorge of Allt a’Mhuilinn, crossing the lively burn. Pass through a young regenerating native forest which provides a peaceful stillness to your visit. Vast fields of bluebells and ransoms (wild garlic) transform the forest floor in Spring. The views are stunning.
When you reach the higher points of the trail sneak a peak across to the solitary Beinn Sgulaird, an impressive Munro that dominates the glen. There are also glimpses of beautiful Glen Ure, once home to the government factor Colin Roy Campbell (The Red Fox) whose murder in 1752 inspired Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel Kidnapped.
Cross the Allt a Mhuilinn gorge and explore an area of restored native woodland. Discover the veteran trees that have stood strong and provided the seed source for the next generation of young trees.
Loose and uneven gravel surface, with long firm grassy sections. Some steep slopes. Includes a wide footbridge.

At the start, this trail follows a spectacular gorge, carved out over centuries by the tumbling Allt Coire Mulrooney. Imagine the power of the water as you look down onto the cascades.
The car park in Glen Creran is a popular place to start the climb up the lofty and isolated Beinn Sgulaird, which dominates the glen. This walk is tough, remote and exposed and is suitable for experienced hillwalkers only.
A long distance route connects Glen Creran with Glen Duror and Ballachulish. This too is a serious undertaking so do make sure you are properly equipped.
The nearest public toilets, shop and cafe can be found at Port Appin.
There is no charge to park in this car park. Please park with care and consideration. In particular please park in designated parking areas only and do not block entrances or gates.
Our car park in Glen Creran is at the end of an unclassified road leading off the A828 at Creagan, between Oban and Ballachulish.
At the roundabout just east of Creagan, follow the sign for Invercreran. After about 2 miles, bear left onto a single track road and continue up the glen for about another 2½ miles. The car park is at the end of the public road.
PA38 4BJ is the nearest postcode.
