Loch, river and stream conservation
Loch, river and stream conservation
We’re committed to looking after the many lochs, rivers and streams on Scotland's national forests and land.
In the past, poor forestry practices sometimes upset the fragile aquatic ecosystem. And when fish and aquatic life suffered, so too did the many species of birds and animals that fed on them.
Today, prompted by the decline of many iconic wildlife species, we respect this priority habitat in all our work. We’re also working closely with a range of stakeholders on fishery conservation and habitat restoration schemes.
