Did you know that Scotland is home to ten of the 17 bat species living and breeding in the UK? …
We are starting felling operations in Devilla forest, by Kincardine, at the end of this week or early next week. Some core path will have to be temporarily closed and diverted round the operations sites for safety reasons. These closures will be on a rolling basis and opened as soon as it is safe to do so. The majority of the forest will be open and accessible to the public for the duration of the operations
The Scots Pine trees of Devilla are a perfect habitat for red squirrels. After trying to spot them along the Red Squirrel Trail, continue to explore the wider forest and its four lochs, which are home to dragonflies and otters.
Watch for squirrels scurrying through the lodgepole pine on this short trail round Bordie Loch and past the legendary Standard Stone.
Firm gravel surface throughout with some uneven sections. Generally flat with some short fairly steep slopes. One wide section of boardwalk.
Allow 1 hour
The trail loops around a beautiful woodland loch, where you’ll find shaded picnic tables and well-placed benches. If you don’t spot the real thing along the way, look out for ‘squirrel shadows’ hidden in the trees that bring their shape and darting movements to life.
The nearest public toilets are in Culross.
There is no charge to park in this car park. Please park with care and consideration. In particular please park in designated parking areas only and do not block entrances or gates.
Devilla is on the north side of the A985, 2 ½ miles east of Kincardine.
FK10 4AS is the nearest postcode.
