Cycling in Glenmore Forest Park
Glenmore has some great choices for cycling. You can ride here all the way from Aviemore along the Old Logging Way, a traffic-free route that follows the journey taken by thousands of tons of timber down the glen. It’s a well-made, firm trail with mostly gentle slopes. Stop off at Loch Morlich for a picnic on the way.
The Lodge Trail (from Allt Mor) and the lower section of the Ryvoan Trail (from Glenmore Visitor Centre) offer beautiful rides through the trees. The slopes are mostly gentle, so they’re good for all the family.
If you feel like exploring on your own, there’s a whole network of forest roads from the Glenmore Visitor Centre. You could go an expedition to find the abandoned township of Beglan, once home to a community of shepherds and farmers. Now just a few piles of tumbled stones peek out from among the thistles.
