About

Quiet, local woodland on the edge of Airdrie

This calm woodland on the edge of the town is a great place for a stroll, a picnic or walk with the dog beside the Calder Water.

There’s just over a mile of gravel paths through the wood, which are ideal for walking, cycling or running – but be prepared for some long moderate slopes. There is also an 800 metre easy route which has been added to the top of the site, offering a firm, flat route for those short of time or looking for something less strenuous.

You can extend the route here along the river by following the North Calder Heritage Trail, a 10 mile (16km) walking and cycling route between Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life in Coatbridge in Coatbridge and Hillend Reservoir at Caldercruix.
