Cruach Tairbeirt land management plan
Cruach Tairbeirt land management plan
Cruach Tairbeirt Land Management Plan was approved by Forestry Commission Scotland on 21 December 2015, following consultation with a range of stakeholders. It is valid for a period of ten years and will be due for renewal in 2025. The plan was incorporated into a full environmental statement for the construction of roads, tracks and quarries to facilitate forest operations.
The plan area is located within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park on the western side of the Loch. The southern slopes overlook the villages of Arrochar and Tarbet; the northern boundary is the Inveruglas Water. The management unit covers about 892ha of which 118ha is open ground. Sitka spruce dominates the woodland areas but there are also important areas of native broadleaves. The overarching objective is to develop a sustainable, multi-purpose forest with resilience to damage and disease in a changing climate.
We are currently working on an updated larch removal plan for this forest, more information can be found here.
