Summer events guide
Make the most of the summer sunshine, and find an awesome outdoor adventure for the whole family in Scotland’s forests this June and July. Of course our woodland destinations can be calm and tranquil, but at other times, the forests are buzzing with activity!
From international mountain biking competitions to guided camping trips under the stars, to holiday-time activity clubs for younger kids, we’ve got something for everyone this summer.
Fort William World Cup 2019
In many ways the big daddy of all the mountain biking competitions held in Scotland, for many riders, the Fort William World Cup is the height of the year. With extensive development having taken place at the Nevis Range recently, this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever.
At Nevis Range, you’ll be able to try out one of the new ‘e-bikes’ - putting some power behind your pedals. The big finals all take place on Sunday 2 June. Meanwhile, throughout the event there will be workshops, demos and tutorials for all skill and experience levels, with a huge swathe of the big mountain bike brands in attendance.

Summer Family Nature Clubs
It’s the return of the much-loved Summer Family Nature Club at The Lodge, in Aberfoyle! Give the kids a chance to get back to nature, get their hands and feet muddy, climb trees and splash about in rivers. Wild play is the bedrock of an active child’s life beyond school, so why not get the kids involved this year, and make some wild summer memories with us.
These fun-filled mornings are aimed at kids of all ages, with specialists from organisations like the RSPB, and our own forest rangers. Youngsters can build their own bird boxes, go hunting for bugs and beasties and aquatic creepy crawlies, and learn all about the wonderful world of nature.
