When will car parks be reopening?
Almost all our car parks are now open and car parks charges (if any) now apply. We advise you check before you visit and always plan ahead. If you arrive at one of our car parks and it looks busy, then it probably is too busy. Please find an alternative.
Will I have to pay for parking?
Car park charges resumed as normal at all of our charging sites on Monday 20 July 2020. The parking tariffs for each site are detailed on the web page for each location under the facilities and access tab, just use our forest search to find the web page for your chosen destination.
Annual and Fortnightly car parking passes will be available for all areas for regular visitors and tourists holidaying in the area soon.
Can I pay for parking using contactless?
Some of our pay and display machines have contactless payment options, where you just hold your card against the card reader when prompted. At these sites, we suggest that visitors use their car key to press the buttons to reduce touch points. Bringing hand sanitizer to use or wearing gloves and then removing them safely is another option. We hope to soon have a pay by phone option up and running – keep an eye on our web site for updates.
I don’t have coins, is there another way to pay at my local car park?
A range of season passes will be available soon to cover all charging car park areas which can be purchased in advance of your visit. Please pay if you can to help us maintain our visitor facilities and look after our forests and land and their wildlife .
Can I pay for car parking by card at a Visitor Centre?
You can pay for parking by contactless card at some of our shop and cafe tills as previously but bear in mind that queues may be longer than usual, some won’t be taking cash and no visitor centre will be giving change. Check ahead before you travel to see if your local visitor centre is accepting card payments.
I have a disability and hold a Blue Badge for my vehicle. Am I exempt from parking charges?
Yes. Vehicles displaying a valid Blue Badge can park free of charge.
I haven’t been able to use my car parking season pass as a result of COVID-19 restrictions. Can I get an extension or refund?
All current car parking season passes will be automatically extended for 4 months. Pass holders won’t need to do anything and we won’t be sending out new or amended passes. Once we start monitoring season passes again, our monitoring staff will be aware of this extension when checking dates on season passes.
Can I purchase or renew a season pass?
Most Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) staff are currently working from home so we don’t have access to our usual payment systems at the moment. FLS are working on a new payment system which we hope will be available soon.
In the meantime, if you don’t have a pass please use one of the meters at our charging sites to pay for your vehicle. Our visitor centres won’t be initially selling season passes due to staffing levels but keep an eye on the web site for any changes.

I’ve changed my car, how do I update my pass with my new registration?
Please write your new registration on your season pass with your old registration and date of pass expiry clearly displayed as well. This will be valid until your current pass expires when we hope to have payment systems in place.
Can I park my car overnight in a Forestry and Land Scotland car park?
No. It is not permitted to leave your car overnight in a Forestry and Land Scotland car park or sleep overnight in your car. Our car parks are for day visitors.
