West Maryston Forest Notices
COVID-19 has changed lots of things we do. And as we re-open the majority of our facilities and welcome more of you back in Phase 3, we need your help to do it safely. Please check what’s open before you travel; enjoy your visit safely by following NHS and Scottish Government guidance; take your litter home with you; and follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
Meander through woodland to views over the lost villages of Easterhouse
Follow the winding woodland paths to reach a viewpoint over a grassy hillside and across to Tinto Hill over 30 miles away. Watch out for wildlife including roe deer and foxes amongst the trees and buzzards and kestrels hunting overhead.
There is about a mile of paths through the wood, which are ideal for walking, jogging and cycling. If you’d like a longer walk, cross Easterhouse Road and follow a path to handsome Blairtummock House, an 18th century villa now used as a business centre.
West Maryston is part of the Seven Lochs Wetland Park, Scotland's largest urban nature park.
Facilities & access
The main trails at West Maryston can be accessed directly from Easterhouse Road, on the north side of Junction 9 of the M8.
There is no car park for the wood but there is on-street parking at Denmilne Path just beyond the woodland entrance off Easterhouse Road. A few informal paths link Denmilne Path to the main trails.
G34 9HF is the nearest postcode.
Easterhouse railway station is 100 yards from the woodland entrance. Just follow Easterhouse Road over the motorway. Plan your journey at Traveline Scotland.
