Caithness land management plan consultation
We are currently carrying out early scoping to help us determine future management proposals for the National Forest Estate across Caithness. This revised Land Management Plan (LMP) will detail how we intend to manage the forests over the coming 10 years and will indicate our vision for the next twenty five years. The proposed LMP will be a full revision of two existing plans: Braehour LMP and East Caithness LMP, and will cover an area of approximately 8242 hectares.
Through the new plan we’ll be seeking to address issues around productive conifers, tree health, wet woodland and peatland restoration as well as making sure that the forests provide future economic and social benefit to residents and visitors.
We are hoping to gather information and suggestions that will help to inform our management proposals for this area and we’d be happy to receive any comments and suggestions by 15 April 2019.
Deadline for initial comments: 15 March 2019
Consultation on draft proposals: throughout July 2019
Submission to Scottish Forestry: Autumn 2019
