Elibank, Traquair, Caberston and Thornielee land management plan
Elibank, Traquair, Caberston and Thornielee forests, totalling 3543 hectares, form the central and largest part of Tweed Valley Forest Park, and are situated close to the communities of Innerleithen and Walkerburn.
This composite land management plan (LMP) brings together three previously separate forest design plans: Elibank & Traquair, Caberston and Thornielee. Recent land acquisitions at West Bold and Ashiestiel, adjacent to Elibank and Traquair, are covered by separate new woodland creation LMPs. West Bold LMP was approved in January 2021 and Ashiestiel LMP has been submitted to Scottish Forestry for approval (follow the link for each LMP).
The plan lays out our proposals for managing the forests over the next ten years, and has now been approved by Scottish Forestry (the plan will be moved to the 'Active plans' page shortly).
The successful delivery of this plan will contribute to the objectives of Forestry and Land Scotland's Corporate Plan, as well as priorities, objectives and vision of Scotland's Forestry Strategy. The plan has been developed in accordance with the requirements of the UK Forestry Standard (UKFS) and its supporting guidelines. The UKFS is the benchmark for sustainable forestry practice.
