Taynuilt Forest comprises three separate forest areas - Fearnoch, Glen Nant and Inverawe - centred around the village of Taynuilt. Fearnoch and Inverawe are primarily commercial conifer forests, whilst Glen Nant is a native woodland SSSI. All three forests have some recreation interests. Inverawe is highly visible, sitting on the western slope of Beinn Cruachan. Glen Lonan forms part of a public water supply catchment.

The primary objectives for the plan area are: commercial conifer timber production, restoration of Ancient Woodland sites, landscape reappraisal, coupe restructuring and protection of designated features. Certification under the UK Woodland Assurance Scheme is another important objective to which the plan will contribute.
