Forestry and Land Scotland is looking forward to meeting current and potential new contractors later this month (Wed 13 Nov, 10am-4pm) at a free 'Meet the Buyer South' event being staged at Hampden Park, Glasgow.

Organised by the Supplier Development Programme, in partnership with Scottish Government and Highlands and Scotland Excel, the event offers businesses in the south of Scotland an unparalleled opportunity to speak directly to a wide range of purchasers and decision-makers.

FLS Procurement Manager, Dorothy Low, said:

This is a great way for businesses to find out what opportunities FLS offers and to have chat with us about how they should go about taking advantage of those opportunities.

£11 billion is spent in the public sector in Scotland each year on goods, services and works and this event will be an ideal opportunity for businesses, especially small ones to find out more about bidding for public sector work.

This is a great way to test the water, speak to the experts and get some good advice and guidance on working with the public sector.”

The free event will bring together buyers from the public sector, including Scottish local authorities, NHS Scotland, Scottish Government bodies, the construction and transport sectors and many more.

There will also be several large private contractors exhibiting that are keen to engage with new suppliers and promote their sub-contract opportunities.

Spaces are limited and anyone interested in attending should register as soon as possible.

Notes to editors

  1. Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) was established as an Executive Agency of the Scottish Government on 1 April 2019, following completion of the devolution of forestry as a result of the Forestry and Land Management (Scotland) Act 2018. It replaces Forest Enterprise Scotland.
  2. The purpose of FLS is to manage forests and land owned by Scottish Minsters in a way that supports and enables economically sustainable forestry; conserves and enhances the environment; and delivers benefits for people and nature. FLS may manage other forested and non-forested land by arrangement, as set out in the Act.
  3. The primary focus of FLS, in delivering its purpose, is to support Scottish Ministers in their role as leaders of Sustainable Forest Management and Sustainable Development through their stewardship of Scotland's national forests and land.
