Red Squirrel Appreciation Day falls on the 21 January this year and we're sharing some of our favour…
Local people have designed the paths here and planted over 100,000 young trees to extend the forest. It’s a great place for a breath of fresh air with wide views across the countryside and the sea. Here you can enjoy watching ferries sailing in and out of Cairnryan.
There are no waymarked trails here. You’ll find good network of paths to explore this growing and changing woodland.
You’ll find public toilets, and plenty of places to eat, in Stranraer.
There is no charge to park in this car park.
Gallowhill is on the western edge of Stranraer, at grid reference NX 046 602.
