Gallowhill land management unit is located immediately southwest of Stranraer in Dumfries and Galloway. Covering an area of approximately 97 hectares, Gallowhill comprises of a young woodland, the ancient Spring Bank Plantation, and agricultural grazing fields. It is part of Scotland’s national forests and land owned by Scottish Ministers on behalf of the people of Scotland and managed by Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS).

We are currently revising the Gallowhill Land Management Plan (LMP) in order to define the management prescription for the next ten year period and to present the vision for the long-term management of the area. The key management objective will focus on woodland establishment.

Community consultation

Consultation with stakeholders (including the local community) is a requirement of the land management planning process but it is also a valuable opportunity for us to engage with the public, talk about our work, and discover what is important to you. Our initial consultation period is now over and we would like to thank those who took the time to participate.
