Important

There’s a very high risk of wildfire in North and North East Scotland from Friday 20 March to Saturday 21 March 2026. Please pay attention to local guidance and follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.

Glentress, Cardrona and Cademuir forests, totalling 2035 hectares, form the western part of Tweed Valley Forest Park, and are situated close to the communities of Peebles and Cardrona.

This composite land management plan (LMP) brings together three previously separate forest design plans: Glentress (including Venlaw), Cardrona and Cademuir. A separate LMP for woodland creation at Nether Horsburgh was approved in 2016, so is excluded from this new LMP. The plan lays out our proposals for managing the forests over the next ten years.

The successful delivery of this plan will contribute to the objectives of Forestry and Land Scotland's Corporate Plan, as well as priorities, objectives and vision of Scotland's Forestry Strategy.  The plan has been developed in accordance with the requirements of the UK Forestry Standard (UKFS) and its supporting guidelines.  The UKFS is the benchmark for sustainable forestry practice.
