Important

The recent storm has affected many of our destinations; it will take us some time to assess the extent of the damage. We are prioritising tree clearance work based on immediate danger and/or access issues. If you are visiting please take extra care and report any specific concerns to your local regional office.

Newcastleton Forest comprises 2376 ha of predominantly upland conifer forest located in the south of the Scottish Borders, immediately east of Newcastleton village and adjacent to Kershope and Lewisburn Forests in Northumberland. Part of Scotland's forests and land owned by Scottish Ministers on behalf of the nation, the forest is managed by Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS).

The Land Management Plan (LMP) was approved by Scottish Forestry in September 2020, and sets out how we intend to manage the forest for the next ten years.  Successful delivery of the LMP will contribute to the objectives of FLS's Corporate Plan and Scotland's Forestry Strategy. The LMP has been developed in accordance with the UK Forestry Standard (UKFS), the benchmark for sustainable forestry practice.
