Muirkirk Land Management Plan is our renewed 10-year plan which continues our management of our ~ 169 Ha site adjacent to Muirkirk in East Ayrshire. After 5 years the plan will be subject to review.

The main objective of the previous plan was to establish new woodland on a former agricultural and open cast coal site as well as manage some exiting woodland and open ground. 

With the new woodland successfully establishing we don’t envisage a need for further active management intervention on the site over the next 10-year plan period. We shall however continue any necessary responsive management on the site.

This below plan and associated maps describes our management objectives and proposals over the next 10 years and considers management beyond.

Preliminary work on plan revision started in Spring 2023 with draft concept maps produced for initial scoping in May 2023. 

We now have draft proposals ready for wider engagement and consultation with stakeholders. The consultation period provides the opportunity to raise issues that will have an impact on plan development. Stakeholders will have 28 days to respond as part of this consultation between 22 April and 20 May 2024. 

Consultation will take the form of direct communication with stakeholders and on-site signage both directing to the information on this page.
