COVID-19 update

Some FLS visitor centres are offering a reduced service, with walking and mountain bike trails remaining open, as are most toilets and car parks. Please check below for local updates on any closures.

We want to ensure your visit is an enjoyable and safe one.

Make sure you follow the Scottish Government’s FACTS advice – helping to protect yourself, your family and your local community, and follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code helping to keep Scotland beautiful.

Travel off the beaten track

Get away from the hustle and bustle, relax, and enjoy the peaceful, uninterrupted views of the Cheviot Hills. From here explore Newcastleton forest’s walking and mountain bike trails, and also Wauchope forest walking trails just a short drive away - a great place to look out for Goshawks in the skies above.

Both upper and lower Cheviot car parks are close to one another, just 100 meters along the road separates them. Walk or cycle along the forest road from the car park, and if you are good with a map you can discover larger loops on foot or bike that go deep into the hills.
