Five Mile Wood was purchased in 1943 from Strathord estate. Taymount was acquired in 1956 with a small section south-east of Kirk o’ the Muir being added two years later. Both forest blocks are set in a rolling agricultural landscape, surrounded by productive arable farmland and estates.
