Cycling in Queen Elizabeth Forest Park
Cycling in Queen Elizabeth Forest Park
Many trails across the Forest Park are ideal for easy off-road cycling.
Family cycling at Loch Ard
Three routes suitable for family cycling run beside Loch Ard, meandering through the woods along a mix of forest road and gravel trails, with just a few moderate slopes. There are great views over the loch and surrounding hills and, if you want to guarantee meeting some local wildlife, be sure to choose one of the Sculpture Trails. Will you spot the mirage foxes, find a permanently leaping salmon or meet the colourful ‘Star Wars Squirrels’?
Discover legendary Loch Katrine
Make it a day to remember by exploring Loch Katrine by steamship and bike. Catch one of the morning boats from the Trossachs Pier to Stronachlachar with your bike, then cycle back along the undulating shore road. The views in every direction are breath-taking. Bring your own bike or hire one at the Pier.
Cycling into history
Look out for two historic routes, the Old Military Road and the Statute Labour Road, which connect Aberfoyle, Loch Katrine and Loch Lomond. These rolling trails, along a mix of forest road and gravel path with some short steep sections, take in some spectacular scenery including a viewpoint favoured by Queen Victoria. Cycle these old routes there and back or use them to link up other routes and make a long distance trail of your own.
