A path though a pine forest with green understory

We are currently reviewing management proposals for our woodlands at Benarty, Pitcairn, Cardenden and Cullaloe, located between Kircaldy and the M90 in Fife. Collectively, these woods will be amalgamated under the South East Fife Woods Land Management Plan (LMP), which will detail our strategic management proposals for the next ten years and beyond.

Give us your feedback

Before finalising these proposals, we would welcome any comments and feedback from interested parties and invite you to take part in our public consultation exercise between 19 August and 22 September 2024.

As part of this consultation, we are hosting two drop-in engagement events at:

  • Benarty Centre, Flockhouse Avenue, Ballingry, KY58JH, on Tuesday 10 September 2024 between 3pm and 7pm
  • Corrie Centre, Carden Avenue, Cardenden, KY5 0EL, on Wednesday 18 September 2024 between 3pm and 7pm

These events will provide an opportunity for you to view our proposals, discuss these with staff, provide comments, and ask questions. If you are unable to attend either of these events, please contact us directly using the details below and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Should you wish to comment on the proposed management, please get in touch no later than Sunday 22 September 2024 as this will allow us to fully consider any feedback before finalising our plans.

Summary of management proposals

Over the next ten years we are proposing to undertake a variety of management activities at Benarty, Pitcairn and Cardenden which include felling, replanting and woodland creation. Some upgrades to the existing forest road network or the construction of new roads will also be required to facilitate these operations. No active management is currently proposed for Cullaloe.

The documents and maps below provide a summary of our management proposals, together with some key considerations which have influenced these.

These documents have been prepared with the aim of summarising the most important information relevant to these plans in an easily accessible format, but please contact us if you wish to review or discuss the proposals in greater detail.
