The Knock of Luce land management unit is located approximately 14 km west of Newton Stewart, in Dumfries and Galloway and is made up of 11 discrete sub-blocks from 12 to 791 Ha in area. Covering approximately 2000 ha the area comprises mostly conifer woodland and extensive peatland. It is part of Scotland’s national forests and land owned by Scottish Ministers on behalf of the people of Scotland and managed by Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS).
Forestry and Land Scotland is currently revising the Land Management Plan (LMP) for this area. It is an opportunity for us to review the management objectives, and to set out our operations for the next ten years. This page will be regularly updated with information, documents and maps as the plan takes shape.

- To select areas of afforested peatland most likely to respond positively to peatland restoration.
- Sustainable timber production with a focus on reducing Larch coverage and maintaining of water quality.
- Maintain conservation status of Scheduled Ancient Monuments.
