A sure sign of success: Veterans producing Scotland’s forestry notices

Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) is contracting Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company (SBMC) to produce and deliver high-quality signs for Scotland’s national forests.

The social enterprise – providing life-changing support to military veterans through employment opportunities – will be supplying signage including site safety and temporary notices.

FLS Category Manager Officer Tony White said:

“With several hundred forests across Scotland – many with live operations, numerous offices and thousands of miles of forestry tracks and trails, we need a lot of sturdy and durable signs.

“That is why we are looking forward to SBMC producing many of the signs we need to operate efficiently and safely."

SBMC provides a specialist service now used by customers across the UK, while creating secure, meaningful employment for veterans and other beneficiaries within the company’s production teams.

Robert Lappin, Assistant Director at SBMC:

“We’re delighted to be contracting with FLS. This agreement will play a major role in the development and growth of SBMC and Royal British Veterans Enterprise‘s direct‑print signage capability.

“Under the contract, SBMC will deliver FLS signage to remote sites across Scotland, often by our own transport and, in many cases, by a veteran behind the wheel.

“We’re proud of the trust FLS has placed in us and proud of our team whose skills make this work possible. This contract represents continued growth, continued impact, and continued opportunity for those we support.”

The signs will be produced in SBMC’s state-of-the-art factory in Erskine.

    Background:

The contract was tendered and awarded through the Scottish Government’s Supported Businesses Dynamic Purchasing System.
