Ballachulish car park closure for micro-hydro site operations
Forestry and Land Scotland is advising hillwalkers that the climbers car park at South Ballachulish, which gives access to Beinn a Bheither, will be closed until mid-November as the Gleann a Caolais micro-hydro installation work is carried out.
With FLS tree felling work completed, contractors and the community development company are beginning the next phase of the operation.
FLS’ Area Visitor Services Manager, David John Robertson, said;
“Site work is expected to commence on 6th September 2021 and, depending on the weather, be completed in November.
“Unfortunately, given the nature of this work the car park will have to be closed for the duration of the operation.
“There will be no parking available for that period at or near this location and there is also likely to be weekend working.
“We apologise for any inconvenience.”
Pedestrian access through the lower section of the site will still be possible via the diversion put in place for the felling operations.
In the interests of their own safety, anyone making use of this should follow all safety signage and follow instructions from the banksmen who will be monitoring the route.
