Car Park plans for Ben A’an

Forestry and Land Scotland is planning to expand its car park at Ben A’an later this year to help ease congestion at the hugely popular site.

Supported by the Rural Tourism Infrastructure Fund, the works are not expected to start until Sept (after the busy summer season) and will see an increase of 26 spaces at the car park.

In the interim, FLS is asking visitors to be considerate, plan ahead and have a 'plan B' destination in mind in case they arrive to find the site already too busy.

Sue Morris, FLS’ Area Visitor Services Manager, said;  

“With the stunning views of nearby lochs and the Arrochar Alps on the western shore of Loch Lomond, Ben A’an is a hugely popular location for visitors.

“Unfortunately, this often leads to quite heavy congestion and irresponsible parking on the approach roads to the car park. It’s a problem that we hope to help ease – at least in part – by adding a further 26 spaces to the car park, which is as many as the site can accommodate.

“We won’t be able to get this in place for the busy summer season but we are giving plenty of advance warning because when we begin work in September the car park will be closed Monday to Friday.  There might be limited parking available at weekends but we would advise visitors to head for alternative destinations.

“In the interim, we would encourage visitors to plan ahead, be considerate, park safely and consider alternative sites to visit if they find it’s too busy when they get here. Everyone should also continue to follow COVID measures - we’ve come too far to give up now.”
