Forestry and Land Scotland gearing up for visitors’ return
Forestry and Land Scotland is getting set to welcome back tens of thousands of visitors to its sites across the country this summer as COVID restrictions ease and Scotland prepares to take a big breath of fresh air.
FLS Chief Executive, Simon Hodgson, said;
“After what has been a very challenging year for us all, we know that across the country, people are champing at the bit to get back to enjoying Scotland’s unmatched tourism offering as soon as restrictions allow.
“We’re pulling out all the stops to help everyone enjoy a great visit and the chance to breathe deep of some fresh air.
“Our car parks, and toilets will be open, we’ll have more staff on hand at key sites to help our visitors, and over the summer we hope to be able to invite campervan owners to take advantage of our ‘stay-the-night’ scheme at some of our car parks.
“But making sure that everyone enjoys a great day out is down to each and every one of us. We, like many other land owners, faced significant challenges last year and we hope that this summer everyone is more aware that while Scotland is for everyone to enjoy, it is also up to everyone to respect and protect.
“We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone back!”
As part of a national Visitor Management Group, FLS has been working closely with partners such as VisitScotland, NatureScot, Police Scotland, the National Park Authorities, Scottish Government, local authorities, Transport Scotland and others to welcome visitors back to the outdoors.
FLS is reminding people that visitors are still required to follow current COVID-19 guidance, to plan ahead and check the FLS website before leaving home, have a plan B ready and always to be kind and considerate when out and about.
