Tyrebagger Christmas trees all booked up!
Forestry and Land Scotland’s Tyrebagger Christmas Tree booking system has been so popular that all of the approximately 3000 slots were allocated in just over a week after going live.
Introduced this year to help keep people safe and to reduce the possibility of COVID-19 transmission at the Tyrebagger sales centre (nr Aberdeen), the system required people to pre-book a time slot where they could come to the centre to collect a Christmas tree.
Although all the slots have been taken, it will still be used to advertise cancellations as and when they occur.
Fiona Robertson, FLS Area Visitor Services Manager, said;
“After the tough year that everyone has had, we wanted to bring some Christmas cheer to as many people as we could and have Christmas trees available at Tyrebagger.
“The booking system was the best way in current circumstances that we could do our bit to allow visitors a festive season that is full of good health as well as good cheer.
“We did expect demand to be high but we were totally gob-smacked at how quickly the slots disappeared!
“We would really have liked to welcome all of our customers to Tyrebagger but I’m sure everyone will understand that this year it just wasn’t possible.
“Hopefully, we’ll see everyone back next year.”
Visitors who have managed to book a slot are advised that late arrivals might not be allowed in to the site, that only card payments for Christmas trees will be accepted and that they should follow site signage at all times to help keep themselves and others safe.
Face coverings will be required and hand sanitiser provided when entering and leaving the site and visitors are advised that there will be no public toilets available.
