COVID-19 and Forestry and Land Scotland

FLS has reduced its operations to felling that is contributing to essential business requirements to help keep Scotland ticking over. Our staff are working from home where possible; staff who are working continue to practise social distancing rigorously following Government and NHS guidance to keep safe.

Fresh air and being outdoors benefits physical and mental health and well-being, and for local visitors the majority of walking trails on Scotland’s national forests and land remain open. Be aware that staff cannot maintain our standard checks and maintenance. All our mountain biking trails and all car parks are closed.

All visitors are reminded to maintain social distance at all times.

Latest on COVID-19

Notice (updated 23 March 2020 – 3:20pm): Due to the situation regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we are closely following Scottish Government guidance to ensure we protect the health and wellbeing of our employees and those we work with including customers, suppliers, visitors and communities. In line with the current guidance, GoApe and Nevis Range Mountain Experience have now closed until further notice.

Walking, cycling or riding a horse through a forest is fine – but there’s another world to explore up in the branches! Treetop adventure courses will give you a squirrel’s eye view of the woods, and you’ll find out what life’s like for the birds and beasts that fly and scamper around above our heads.

Whichever course you choose, you’ll come away buzzing with excitement and with a new insight into the beauty of the forest. Step up into the treetops at Glentress near Peebles and The Lodge near Aberfoyle – visit our partner Go Ape for details and bookings. There's a brilliant treetop course at Leanachan, near Fort William, too – visit our partner Nevis Range for more details and bookings.

Nevis Range Tree Adventure

Each course is a unique journey. You might balance on rope bridges strung high above the ground, swing like Tarzan from tree to tree (you don’t have to wear a leopard-print costume, but it helps), tiptoe across a tricky traverse on rings, and whizz down a thrilling zip wire. Go along with your family or friends for an outing you’ll never forget.
