Banchory woods Land management plan

Mid-Term Review Amendment

This amendment to the Banchory land management plan consists primarily of a new acquisition in Scolty woods.

The non-native conifer component in Scolty woods is planned to be clear-felled to enable ancient woodland restoration and create a mixed broadleaf amenity woodland.

In other areas some conifer species approved for felling are to be retained, this is to mitigate the impact of increased felling due to Storm Arwen and improve practicality for operations.

There are some amendments to the tree species being planted. Areas previously allocated for plantation conifer species are now to be planted with mixed native broadleaf and mixed conifer species to restore woodland areas, and to align with the soil conditions and tree regeneration now present.
