Local views sought on 10-year plan for Kilpatrick Hills Forest

Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) is inviting local residents to come along to one of two drop-in sessions to find out about and offer feedback on a long term plan for the management woodlands in Kilpatrick Hills.

Located north-west of Glasgow, the woodlands are very popular as a recreation area but are also a working, timber producing forest.

The new plan is a normal part of FLS’ ten-year review of all land management plans to ensure that management options continue to help meet FLS objectives.  

Toby Austin, Planning Forester for FLS, said;

“Over the next 10 years we are proposing to undertake a variety of management activities which include felling, replanting, open mire restoration and woodland creation.

“Some upgrades to the existing forest road network or the construction of new roads will also be required to facilitate these operations.

“We know how well-loved these woodlands are for recreation and that a lot of local people make regular use of them, so we’re really keen to hear comments and feedback on the plans.

“We’re inviting people to come along to the drop-in sessions, have a chat with us, find out more and ask questions. Anyone who can’t make these is welcome to provide feedback online.”

The two drop-in engagement events will take place at:

  • Old Kilpatrick Food Parcels Hub, Napier Hall, G60 5JH on Tuesday 3rd June between 4pm -7pm
  • Edenmill Farm Shop, Glasgow, G63 9AX on Saturday 7th June from 12pm – 3pm.
