Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) is formally passing back the Scallastle car park to its private owner, although visitors will still be able to access the trail on foot from Craignure under The Scottish Outdoor Access Code SOAC.

The trail, which is reached ten minutes on foot from the public car parking in Craignure village can be found opposite the Isle of Mull Hotel.

Historically, the car parking for the trail was situated, by agreement under lease. This arrangement has now come to an end as the owner has new plans for the area.

Jo Maclean, Area Visitor Services Manager for the area, said;

“The informal trail is still easily accessible from the ferry terminal and village with most of the visitors enjoying this trail having the option to explore further and drive to the formal sites with car parking  such as Garmony and Glen Aros on the island .

The FLS team in the area have removed formal signage and offer of parking from the site.

Visitors will still be able to access it under SOAC.
