This mature woodland of tall beech and sycamore trees is ideal for those seeking some fresh air. Listen for the birds singing in spring and summer, enjoy the colours of the leaves in autumn, and admire the lacework of branches in winter.
Most of the paths are wide, smooth and flat, with a surface of gravel or grass. There are some short steep sections, and the terrain can get muddy in places after rain.
There are shops, places to eat and public toilets at nearby Johnstone.
There is no car park at this location.
There are lots of entrances to Rannoch Wood. It's surrounded on its four sides by Beith Road, Rannoch Road, Elm Drive and Tower Road - all of which have paths into the woodland. There is no designated car park, but lots of on-street parking nearby.
Please park with consideration and do not block pedestrian and vehicle access points. Do consider public and active transport if available and possible.

Johnstone train station is a 15 minute walk from the Tower Road and Beith Road entrances. Local bus services run around the edges of the woodland along Beith Road, Rannoch Road and Elm Drive. Plan your journey at Traveline Scotland.
