The Strathyre Forests Long Term Plan (LTP) is a revision of the current Strathyre Forests Larch Removal Plan. Covering 4,225 hectares of Scotland’s national forests and land around Strathyre and Kirkton Glen in Stirlingshire, it will set out the long-term management of the West Strathyre, Strathyre East and Kirkton forest blocks.
Renaming Land Management Plans as Long Term Plans
Land Management Plans are in the process of becoming known as Long Term Plans, a change needed as a result of changes taking place in legislation.
The Land Reform Act introduces an alternative use for the term Land Management Plan which relates specifically to the forthcoming obligations set out under this banner. These terms are used interchangeably on our website, but both currently reference our plans developed in line with the UK Forestry Standard.

Consultation is an important part of the planning process, helping us develop informed and effective proposals. By engaging with a range of stakeholders, including local communities, we ensure people have an opportunity to share their views on the area.
The documents below outline our proposed approach to managing the Strathyre Forests going forward. They present the overall vision for the area and indicate the types of forest management activities being considered. Detailed proposals will be developed as part of the full Long Term Plan before a final period of consultation on the Scottish Forestry Public Registers.
We welcome your feedback on the proposals presented here and will carefully consider all comments as we develop the final Long Term Plan.
Drop-in sessions
As part of our stakeholder engagement exercise we will be holding two drop-in sessions for local people and any other interested parties to view the proposals and ask questions or raise comments in person. These events will be held at:
