Bluebells, bumblebees and blackbirds, with a view over Kirkcudbright

Barhill Woods is a lovely mixed woodland of broadleaves and conifer trees. On the doorstep of Kirkcudbright, this town is known to be home to many Scottish artists. Barrhill Woods is just the place to come for some inspiration. The forest is especially pretty in late spring, when bluebells cover the ground.

You’ll find views over Kirkcudbright and its harbour, and blackbirds and thrushes in the forest. Listen for the rustle as they search for food among the leaves. You might hear the drumming of woodpeckers too.
