Glentress

The following notices are in effect at this location.

1. Bike trail notices

   • Tree felling operations have now finished at Glentress. Some sections on the Red/Black mountain bike routes remain closed (seven days a week) for repairs.

2. Transcaledonia Cycle Event - Fri 11th and Sat 12th September

   Please expect additional vehicle and cycle traffic in the following areas:

   • Friday 11th September 2026 - Yair and Caberston
   • Saturday 12th September 2026 - Innerleithen and Glentress

   There is a Section 11 in place from Scottish Borders Council to ensure the safe running of the event, more information is available on the SBC's Path Closures Page

3. Glentress Blue Route notice

   • Open with one short diversion at the exit of Cardie Hill Climb (post 10 to post 11).
4. Glentress Red Route notice

   • Diversion at the exit of Cardie Hill Climb (post 10) rejoining at the exit of Cool Runnings (post 12).
     
     
   • Matrix is back open freshly repaired and tidied up.
5. Glentress Black Route notice

   The route is partially open with some closures and diversions:

   • Diversion at the exit of Cardie Hill Climb (post 10) via forest road, climb up old Pennels Vennel trail and Blue Velvet ending at Soor Plooms entry.
     
     
   • Boundary Trail, Deliverance, Mild Peril and Redemption Climb remain closed due to storm damage. Diversion at post 73 via Carls Lane, Spookywood, Mud & Roots and Hit Squad Hill.
     
     
   • Ewok Village, Double X and Head Over Heels are closed (seven days a week) for repairs. There is a diversion via the Matrix and Lombard Street to the start of the Wormhole. Until the end of September 2026.

Ticks

Ticks can carry Lyme disease, which can lead to long-term illness. Check for ticks after your visit and remove them quickly.

Open water

There is open water at this site. Watch children closely, wear a life jacket if you go in the water, and do not drink alcohol near or in water.

Forestry works

You may find tree felling, road building and timber lorries here. Keep safe and don't enter closed areas. Always follow signs and instructions.
