North Clydesdale Forests Land Management Plan Consultation

Every 10 years we look again at our Land Management Plans. North Clydesdale Forests is now due for renewal and at this point we can change the plan or keep it the same. 

The plan comprises the separate blocks of Kingshill, Woodmuir, Heathland, West Forth and The Mosses. We've now included another block for this renewal called Lewinside which is a newly planted woodland located between West Forth and The Mosses (see location map below).

The majority of the plan is within South Lanarkshire although Kingshill and Woodmuir extend into North Lanarkshire and West Lothian. 

Once approved, the renewed plan will replace the current Land Management Plan.

As part of the renewal process, we are sharing our draft proposals with you and would like to hear your views and comments on our vision for the forest. The draft management objectives, plus analysis and concept maps, can be viewed and downloaded below. You can submit any comments via the contact details supplied below, and the subject of your email should be 'North Clydesdale renewal 2027'. 

• summer 2025: internal scoping meeting to identify key management challenges over the last 10 years and considerations for the next plan
• autumn 2025 to spring 2026: baseline desk and field surveys, site meetings with stakeholders, and preparation of draft management proposals and concept design map
• summer 2026: community consultation
• post-summer 2026: review of proposals and preparation of main document.

The final draft plan will be submitted to Scottish Forestry for review and placed on this consultation page. 

As part of the approval process, the plan will be available on Scottish Forestry's public register for 28 days where you'll also have the opportunity to comment.
