If you are looking for world class mountain biking suitable for all ages and abilities, then Galloway Forest Park is the place for you.

Kirroughtree and Glentrool are two of the internationally renowned 7stanes mountain biking trail centres that span the south of Scotland. Kirroughtree is home to some of the best singletrack in the country, while Glentrool offers a wide range of riding, including the unique Big Country Ride.

Kirroughtree

There are trails for all at Kirroughtree. From the family friendly green route through scenic Bargaly Glen to the fearsome black-graded Black Craigs – definitely not for the faint of heart!

The blue route around Larg Hill is perfect if you’re a beginner looking for excitement. Experienced riders will relish the tricky red-graded Twister.

There’s also a skills area, a friendly bike shop with bike hire, and a great café for some well deserved tea and cake.

Glentrool

Choose Glentrool if you’re ready to explore the wild side of Galloway. The Big Country Ride is an epic 58km day out in the rolling hills along quiet public roads and forest tracks. With some testing climbs and thrilling descents, it’s a big day out. Families can ride together from the visitor centre along one of two green-graded trails, and novice mountain bikers will get a kick out of the blue-graded Green Torr’s swooping singletrack.
