The Land Management Plan (LMP) covers Drimnatorran Forest, located around the village of Strontian in west Lochaber. The forest comprises of three distinct blocks – the main Drimnatorran Forest in Ariundle and Carnoch, Phemies’ Wood on the west side of Strontian and Longrigg which lies one kilometre west of Strontian. The forest is accessed from the A861 at Carnoch, the U1317 leading to Ariundle, with the Longrigg and Phemies’ Wood blocks lying adjacent to the U1321 and A861 respectively. The forest and associated open ground covers 1071ha and extends from 10 metres near Loch Sunart to 295 metres on the Eggadale plateau on the eastern boundary.

The LMP area comprises of designated Oakwood; ancient semi-natural woodland; semi-natural woodland; commercial conifer plantation; and large areas of priority and non- priority open habitats. The 2023 – 2032 LMP is prepared with resilience in a changing climate as the driving factor for forest, land, soils, water and biodiversity.
